Hasn’t it been HOT folks!  Well it’s even hotter in the kitchen here at the Tearooms I can tell you! The Rooms themselves, though, stay comparatively cool.

So for the moment we have taken the Baked Potatoes off the specials board until the weather cools a bit, but have been baking some cakes.

We’ve sold a number of Knickerbocker Glories and Ice Cream Sundaes, along with lots of “Eton Mess” too.

I have taken some pictures of a Knickerbocker Glory made here recently and will be posting a picture in an upcoming post soon.

So, on to the specials… we have had a change around this week and  so we have…

We have had the Iced Bakewell Slice on the Specials Board for a while now, and it has been so popular that I may well add it to the Main Menu when we make our changes in the Autumn!  However, for now it will remain on the Specials Board.

And as I may have mentioned previously we have added some Baked Potatoes to the Specials Board (earlier than the Autumn Menu as we have had so many requests) and frankly with our, shall we say, “chilly” summer days, the Potatoes sell out quite quickly.  We have the usual toppings of Butter, Cheese, Baked Beans and Tuna and we have Succulent Prawns in a Marie Rose Sauce – which are very popular!

So what’s on the Board at the moment?

Baked Potatoes (With Butter, Cheese, Baked Beans, Tuna Mayonnaise, Prawns)

Harvest Cake – (Apples and Sultana cake with a glazed almond topping)

I decided to try the Lady Grey, it is a lighter version of Earl Grey Tea – more “citrussy” (is that a word? lol) So far the customers who have tried it, have enjoyed the brew.

I was going to include Baked Potatoes on the Menu in the Autumn, however, as we have had a number of requests for them we now have Baked Potatoes on the Specials Board too and these are available between noon and 2pm. Although, so far we have not cooked them on Sunday’s, which is why they are on the Specials and not on the menu all the time.

Everything else is available all day, including our own home made vegetable soup if it’s something hot you’re after!
