  A Little About The Tearooms

Victorian Style Tearooms

on the B1062 at Mettingham
(near Bungay)
in Suffolk

The Tally Ho is a relaxing, cosy, but spacious Tearooms. Formerly a Public House for the preceeding 200 or so years, April 2010 saw the premises re-opened as a Victorian Style Tearooms.

Roses and Honeysuckle cloth the front door in summer and there is outside seating here for up to 12 people with parasols for shade.

With wheelchair ramps, access is easy for disabled people, and we have installed disabled toilet facilites and have close parking for cars with blue badges too. We have installed hooks to hold back the doors when necessary too for easier access. We do also have our own wheelchair 'on standby' for anyone who just needs a little help now and then! Just ask for assistance.

Inside the front and side of The Tally Ho Tearooms

The panoramic picture above (Click the picture for an enlarged view) shows the front (on the right) and side of the restaurant area, there are more tables (out of shot) at the back of the property too.

Comfy Sofa

We have a very comfortable sofa and armchair available for customers to enjoy even more relaxation! And there are no clocks in our Tearooms to remind you of the time, a deliberate ploy to help you get away from it all.

Gift Shop at The Tally Ho Tearooms

We have a Gift Shop area which is always expanding with new trinkets and useful items. A number of items are actually made right here by the owners and staff and are available nowhere else.

We can cater for large groups (up to 34) who would like to enjoy Afternoon Tea with us and we can boast a large rear car park (as well as a smaller car park to the front of the building) which can easily house a large coach for those travelling together, or give plenty of parking for guests arriving separately.

We are Open Six Day a Week, All Year Round (apart from between Christmas and New Year) and open all bank holiday Mondays too, all till 5pm.

We cater for groups of up to 34 people in an area at the back and side of the Tearooms, and still have room for other customers enjoying morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea at the front of the building.

A picture of the lovely ladies from the local Red Hatters Society enjoying afternoon Tea.

Snow at The Tearooms

The above picture was taken during the snow of January 2013. We are Open all Year and being just off the B1062, which is a fairly main road, it is gritted and fairly clear in most winter weathers, so access to a warming meal here is still possible. And we, unlike many others, stay open until 5pm even in the winter months.

For a little bit of background to the refurbishment of The Tally Ho from being a closed down pub to a flourishing Tearooms, follow this link to the Refurbishment page which will show you how it all started and also the BLOG for updates.
